Dear Friends,

In 1985, a group of College Club members established the College Club Scholarship Fund as a separate 501(c)(3) to serve as the philanthropic arm of our organization. The Fund reflects a primary focus of the Club since its founding - education - and is emblematic of the Club's tradition of commitment to both the community and to higher education. More than 200 scholarships have been awarded since 1985.

CCSF works closely with school counselors to identify the most outstanding and deserving recipients, and our officers and directors spend many hours reviewing applications and interviewing applicants. Last year, four students each received $3,000 scholarships to Emory University, Bryn Mawr, Brandeis, and Boston University.

Our work doesn't end there. CCSF Directors monitor recipients' performance and make themselves available to help students in any way they can. Awards are presented at a ceremony held in May at 44 Commonwealth Avenue, at which time Club members and friends have an opportunity to mingle with and get to know students, their families, teachers and counselors. Everyone I know who has attended the award ceremony comes away impressed by the quality of these young people and touched by their stories. Many of them have succeeded against great odds.

The need for financial assistance doesn't end with the first year, and for this reason we have chosen to lend full support over the course of all four college years if the student maintains a high GPA and is successful in his or her pursuit of a degree. This represents a significant commitment of great value.

All donations are tax deductible under the full extent of the law. Many of our donors double or triple their donations through an employers' match program. Other Club members have named the Scholarship Fund in their estate planning, donations that build our endowment and allow us to make long-range commitments to students.

If you have questions or concerns prior to making a donation to the Fund, please contact us by telephone, email or in person. We would be delighted to speak with you at anytime. And please save the date - May 17, 2016 at 5:30pm - for the awards ceremony and reception for friends and donors, to be held at The College Club of Boston.
